Jesus summed up the Scriptures in this way: “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.” And “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF”. (Matt 22:37) In light of this, our study of Scripture should reflect this purpose of the Scriptures. As we study, we should always ask ourselves how we can love God more and how we can love our neighbour more. We should always start with applying the Scriptures to ourselves. ““Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother’s eye.” (Luke 6:42) God starts with providing us with the correct view of God, history, mankind and the origin of sin in Genesis. We read of the many failures of mankind by refusing to acknowledge and worship Him alone and mistreating one another. There are examples of people who walked by faith with God and who now encourage us to move towards God by their example. We also see God’s mercy, and His desire for us to come back to Him in repentance by providing the way through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. (2Ti 2:15)
"It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'" (Matt. 4:4)
The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. (Acts 17:10-11)
